Runway Pricing 2026: Plans, Credits & Real Gen-4.5 Cost
Runway plan prices are only half the story. This guide converts monthly credits into Gen-4.5 generation capacity and explains rollover, Team pooling, purchased-credit rules and the current Max structure.
Evidence basis: current Runway pricing/help documentation and editorial calculations. We do not claim hands-on generation testing where it has not occurred.

What Gen-4.5 costs in credits
Runway currently prices Gen-4.5 at 12 credits per second and supports 2–10 second generations on Standard and higher plans. That means a 5-second generation uses 60 credits and a 10-second generation uses 120 credits.
- Standard: five 10-second generations use 600 of 625 monthly credits.
- Pro: eighteen 10-second generations use 2,160 of 2,250 credits.
- Max: seventy-nine 10-second generations use 9,480 of 9,500 credits.
- Team: each seat contributes enough monthly credits for roughly fifty-seven 10-second Gen-4.5 generations before accounting for other tools or retries.
Free plan: 125 credits does not mean free Gen-4.5
The Free plan includes a one-time 125-credit balance, but Gen-4.5 requires Standard or higher. Do not divide 125 by 12 and assume the Free tier can generate roughly ten seconds of Gen-4.5; the access requirement blocks that workflow.
Standard vs Pro vs Max
Standard is the lowest paid tier with Gen-4.5 access and is best treated as light exploratory usage. Pro raises the monthly pool to 2,250 credits and is better suited to regular generation. Max provides 9,500 credits and allows up to one month of unused credits to roll forward.
Standard and Pro monthly plan credits expire on the billing date. Max can roll over up to one month of unused credits. Purchased credits are different: they do not expire.
Team pricing and pooled credits
Runway introduced Team on September 4, 2026 for teams of 2–9 seats. Each seat adds 6,900 credits per month to one shared balance. Team is listed at $69 per seat monthly or $55 per seat per month when billed annually. Up to one month of unused pooled credits can roll over.
Purchased credits: useful for burst capacity
Runway says Standard, Pro, Max and Team users can purchase additional credits, with a minimum purchase of 1,000 credits. Purchased credits do not expire. Because the public help documentation we checked does not state a universal checkout price for those top-ups, this guide does not assign a dollar cost to purchased credits.
For Gen-4.5, 1,000 additional credits represent about 83 seconds of raw generation capacity at the current 12-credit-per-second rate. That is an arithmetic capacity estimate, not a promise of usable finished footage; retries and discarded generations reduce effective output.
Why cost per approved clip matters more
If three 10-second attempts are needed before one clip is accepted, the effective generation spend is three times the nominal one-generation cost. Teams should track attempts, rejected generations and approved outputs rather than treating the plan credit pool as guaranteed finished-video capacity.

Max is replacing legacy Unlimited
Runway is phasing out Unlimited in favor of Max. Eligible legacy Unlimited subscriptions have access extended through November 30, 2026. Buyers comparing older articles should not assume Unlimited remains the current self-serve plan structure.
Runway web credits vs Runway Dev: Enterprise is different
For standard self-serve accounts, Runway's current API FAQ says credits purchased in the web app and credits purchased through Runway Dev remain separate. Runway's September 18, 2026 unified-pricing announcement applies to Enterprise customers: enterprise credit commitments can be used across the web app and Runway Dev, and enterprise documentation also describes transfers between web workspaces and API accounts. Do not assume a Standard, Pro, Max or Team credit balance automatically funds Runway Dev. Verify your account type and billing interface before budgeting API usage.
Which plan fits which workload?
- Standard: occasional creator testing and lighter generation.
- Pro: regular solo production where 625 credits are repeatedly insufficient.
- Max: high-volume individual generation and users who benefit from one-month rollover.
- Team: 2–9 collaborators needing a pooled balance and shared workspace.
- Enterprise: larger organizations or custom governance/volume requirements.
