What the benchmark actually says
Across the 14-provider research dataset, 11 providers had an explicit paid monthly or monthly-equivalent public reference that could be normalized without inventing a number. The median of those 11 references is $15, with a range from $6 to $29.
That range is useful for budgeting a software subscription, but it is not enough for estimating production economics. A $10 plan can be more expensive per approved clip than a $29 plan if generation burn, retries or export limits are different.
Normalized paid starting/reference prices
Kling uses the renewal reference rather than its introductory figure. InVideo uses the monthly-equivalent figure shown with annual billing in the dated dataset. These choices are disclosed to avoid mixing promotional and recurring pricing silently.

Free access is common; free commercial rights are not
13 of 14 dataset rows show some form of free-entry signal—free plan, free access, trial-like entry or “start for free.” Google Veo was deliberately left unnormalized because access and metering depend on the Google product/endpoint.
But free access should not be confused with permission to monetize output. In the dataset, Fliki, ElevenLabs and OpusClip are explicitly normalized as no for commercial use on the free tier. Synthesia is conditional, while Vizard and Submagic remain unclear and Hypernatural carries a caution status. “Unclear” is not a prohibition; it means the public terms were not reduced to a clean plan-level yes/no.
Why raw credit counts are a bad benchmark
Credits are vendor-specific accounting units. A Runway credit, Kling credit, Pika creator credit and Hailuo credit do not represent the same amount of video.
