Free vs Starter: watermark and production limits
The free tier is useful for testing caption quality and workflow fit, but it is capped at three videos per month and carries the Submagic watermark. Starter removes the watermark, raises usage to 15 videos per member per month, supports up to two minutes per video and includes 3 AI credits.
Pro: the stronger creator plan
Pro raises the monthly allowance to 40 videos per member and up to five minutes per video. It adds premium Storyblocks B-roll and audio, AI hook titles, clean audio, bad-take and silence removal, caption translation, Brand Kit features and direct publishing to TikTok, YouTube and Instagram.
Business + API: when volume and output quality matter
Business + API raises the allowance to 100 videos per member per month, supports videos up to 30 minutes, includes 15 AI credits and expands export options to 4K and 60 FPS. The current plan also documents 100 API minutes per month plus priority support and rendering.
Magic Clips is an add-on, not the base subscription
Submagic currently prices Magic Clips separately. On monthly billing the add-on is shown at +$19 per member/month; the annual view currently shows +$12 per member/month. If long-video repurposing is the main reason you are buying Submagic, include that add-on in your budget rather than comparing only the base plan price.
Monthly vs annual billing
The current Submagic pricing page advertises a 41% annual discount and displays annual equivalents of $12 for Starter, $23 for Pro and $41 for Business + API per member/month. Annual offers and localized currencies can change, so check the final checkout before committing.
API economics
Submagic documents additional API credit packs after purchasing a plan, with current examples starting at 500 minutes for $75/month ($0.15/minute) and larger packages reaching $0.10/minute. Teams planning automated production should budget the subscription and incremental API usage separately.
Our buying rule
Use Free to test captions and editing fit. Choose Starter for light recurring production, Pro for a serious creator workflow, and Business + API only when the higher video limits, 4K/60 FPS, API allowance or team operations justify the price. If your main need is long-video clipping, compare the total cost including Magic Clips against OpusClip and Vizard.
